Madeline Leman and The Desert Swells

Madeline Leman and The Desert Swells create a retro Americana sound that is sinful and soulful, heartbreaking and leg shaking. Influenced by Patsy Cline and Bonnie Raitt, Madeline captivates audiences with stories of strong female protagonists, cowboys and truck drivers who ramble their way through the mundane and the profound. Inspired by her time in North America and the backstreets of Brunswick, Madeline weaves nostalgia soaked tales through light filled rooms to create authentic music of great storytelling and musical joy. Coupled with surf guitar and lush harmonies The Desert Swells are a high-energy live show not to be missed!

Lucy and the Night Sky

Lucy and the Night Sky is a fresh 9-piece band from the Surf Coast of Victoria that creates lush music to the original songs of classical pianist and singer, Lucy O’Grady. Integrating thoughtful lyrics with gentle grooves and the unique colours of backing vocals, the band’s music plays with a variety of genres including classical and funk. Despite having formed as recently as December 2016, the band have already released an album called The Ocean Doesn’t Want Me. The band amalgamates the 20 years’ experience of all-male instrumental band Moonah with the fresh vocal prowess of Lucy and her back-up gals which can be heard in the music as a beautiful integration of masculine and feminine, hope and despair, fun and seriousness.

We are excited to announce our line up of talented musicians for the 2017 Nightjar Festival season returning to Torquay on Thursday evenings throughout January and to Geelong on Friday evenings throughout February.

The first night of the Nightjar Festival season on Thursday 5th January in Torquay sees us welcome Little Georgia, Shining Bird, Neda and Tumbarumba and Vanderville Smash.

Little Georgia are a Folk-Grunge who, amongst a sea of rhythmic and raw guitar tones, deliver both beautiful harmonies and compelling lyrics which reveal the honesty in their music.

Shining Bird is an experimental pop band from the coastal town of Austinmer, NSW who have received widespread acclaim for their unique brand of layed-back Australian pop.

Neda and Tumbarumba create an instant festival atmosphere with Neda arriving and finding the stage in a decadent costumed procession with the Tumbarumba male Samba Drummers. They will have you up dancing to their rhythmic Samba beats. Fanfare and merry making at its best!

The first night of the festival will conclude with an explosion of funk, flute, sax, synth and groove as The Vanderville Smash take the stage. Made up of three brothers and two mates, no other Australian band sounds like ’em. They are renowned for having packed dance floors at their shows!

We look forward to seeing you soon!

The Forge Pizzeria

Our grandfather Frank was a hard working Blacksmith in the Ballarat region, and at the heart of a Blacksmith’s shop is a fire they call the Forge. With a combination of the fire, great skill and plenty of hard work, great things are created. Take a look at our wood fire oven and you’ll know why we are “The Forge”. We’ll be serving up our favourite woodfired pizzas and dessert pizza at the Nightjar Festival.
