Where is Nightjar Festival held?

Torquay – Torquay Common, Surf Beach Drive. Entry gates located on Great Ocean Road and Surf Beach Drive.

 

What are Nightjar’s opening hours?

In 2024, Nightjar will operate from 4pm to 10pm on 4, 5, 11 & 12 Jan. Last entry to the event is 30 minutes before closing.

 

How much does it cost to get in?

Adult $28.50 per person 18+ – online price

Youth $18.50 per person 10-17 years – online price

Family Pass $85.00 incl. 2 adults & 2 Youth – online price (limited availability on the gate)

Adult Season Pass $95.00 (entry to 4, 5, 11, 12 Jan) – only available online

Youth Season Pass $65.00 (entry to 4, 5, 11, 12 Jan) – only available online

Children aged 9 & under are admitted free of charge.

 

Is Nightjar an over 18’s event?

Torquay entry is open to all ages. There are two licenced areas located inside and you MUST bring valid ID to show if requested.

Any person under 18 years of age, to gain entry into bar areas in Torquay MUST be accompanied by a parent/legal guardian or responsible adult (at security & event management discretion).

 

Is There Disability Access & Parking

All entertainment, food and market stalls are on ground level. Both events are held in open parks/public spaces, so the ground may be a little uneven and there may be water on the ground after rain.

Torquay – A limited number of parking spaces for persons with a disability are available near Gate 1, off Surf Beach Drive.

Permanent and portable toilet facilities for persons with a disability are available.

 

Is there parking available?

Parking is available at Spring Creek Reserve (Torquay Football Oval) which is opposite the event site. Torquay’s Rotary Club collect a gold coin donation for parking vehicles, which assists the Club in supporting local charities and communities and making the world a better place.

We encourage patrons to be active and think of the environment, by riding their bikes to the venue. Bike racks will be available at entry gates and make sure you bring your own chain and lock.

 

Can I Catch a Bus to the Event?

Torquay – There is a bus stop located on Bell Street for local patrons – McHarrys Route 50 & 51.

 

Can I bring a wheelchair, electric scooter or stroller to Nightjar?

Nightjar is accessible to wheelchairs, electric scooters and strollers.

All entertainment, food and market stalls are on ground level. The event is held in an open park/public space, so the ground may be a little uneven and there may be water on the ground after rain.

 

Can I take my bike, trike, scooter, rollerblades, skateboard or child’s wheeled seat into Nightjar?

In the interest of public safety all forms of bicycles and tricycles, including hand-propelled tricycles, skateboards, scooters and rollerblades/skates are not permitted within the gates of Nightjar.

Bicycle racks will be available at the entry gates. You must provide your own lock and chain. Only form of child seating allowed into Nightjar are strollers.

 

Are there ATMS on site?

There will be automatic teller machines (ATM’s) located on site at Nightjar.
Some of the stallholders and vendors will also have the availability to accept EFTPOS payments.

 

Can I bring my dog?

Well behaved dogs on secure leads are welcome to attend. Please ensure you bring a water bowl for them.

Please bear in mind, the events do get very busy, and may be uncomfortable for some pets.

 

Will there be Security on Site?

Security will be on site and present during Nightjar, managing crowds and at gates, conducting random bag searches in Torquay and searching all bags at Geelong as the whole event is licenced.
Intoxicated or drug affected persons will not be permitted entry to Nightjar.

 

Will there be First Aid on site?

First Aid will be located in a central visible location, and operational during Nightjar.

Can I bring a water bottle into the venues?

Yes – But they must be EMPTY and re-useable bottles, definitely not glass or single use plastic (we are an environmentally friendly event)

Bottles need to be empty, as we are licenced and by law, you cannot bring drinks into licenced events. We encourage people to bring along their re-useable bottles (Empty) and then they can refill as many times as they like at the hydration station.

Is there a Lost Property Area on site?

If you lose something on the night, please ask security or event staff to direct you to Event Control. If you find something at the event, please hand the item to security or event staff.

Lost items, uncollected on the night are taken back to the Nightjar office. Please send us a message via our website with a description of the item, and we will endeavour to locate and get the item back to you asap.

Any items not claimed within 14 days, will be donated to charity.

Can I smoke or vape at Nightjar?

Smoking and vaping is prohibited by law in dining and marquee areas, so this makes Nightjar a smoke-free event within its boundaries.

Can I bring Alcohol into the Venue?

NO – BYO alcohol is not permitted, and any water bottles brought into the venues must be empty.

Beer, Wine, Gin & Tonic, Kombucha and Sangria will be available for purchase during the events within licensed areas only.
Other drinks will be available for purchase from food vendors and the hydration station will be located at both sites, for re-filling of re-useable (non-single use plastic) bottles.

What can’t I bring into the Nightjar Venue with me?

As with all events and in the interest of public safety, there are a number of prohibited items, that must not be brought onto an event site. This includes:
• Illegal substances, including controlled, dangerous or illicit drugs
• Incendiary devices (flares, fireworks, flares, smoke bombs, etc)
• Firearms and explosives, chemical or biological substances
• Weapons, including knives, scissors, poles etc
• Lasers and laser pointers
• Unauthorized advertising material or flyers
Illegal items and substances will be confiscated and handed over to Police.

Nightjar also has a strict policy regarding waste and patron safety. For this reason, there are a number of restricted items that patrons cannot bring onto the Nightjar site, including:
• BYO alcohol
• Any glass containers – bottles and other items
• Single use plastic bags, bottles and other items (Empty re-usable drink bottles are permitted to be brought onto site and filled at the hydration station)
• Marquees, shade shelters, umbrellas, etc
• Pushbikes, skateboards, scooters etc
• Professional cameras (unless authorised by Nightjar Management)
• Drones & audio/video recording devices (including GoPros)
• Selfie sticks, mono-pods & tri-pods
• BBQ’s, Generators
• Musical Instruments or sound systems (unless authorized by Nightjar Management)
To avoid confrontation, patrons are able to take these items back to their car.

I would like a job at Nightjar, are there any vacancies available?

Applications open around October the year before the event. Please subscribe to receive our “Nightjar News” as this will keep you updated around everything Nightjar, and also keep an eye on our social media pages.

Anyone interested in obtaining a job with a stall holder/food vendor, you will need to approach them individually yourself as Nightjar does not provide an employment service for them.

How can I become a Stallholder/Artist/Performer at the event?

Applications open in August the year before the event – please subscribe to receive our ‘Nightjar News’ as this will keep you updated around everything Nightjar, and also keep an eye on our social media pages.

What artists will be performing at the events?

Artists and performance schedules, once confirmed, will be shown on our website, social media pages and for those that have subscribed, they will receive the details in our ‘Nightjar News’.

What stallholders will be exhibiting at the events?

Once confirmed, featured stallholders will be shown on our website and social media pages. Just prior to each event, our ‘Nightjar News’ will provide a complete list of stallholders, to receive this please subscribe.
 

What food vendors will be at Nightjar?

Nightjar dish up a smorgasbord of food and drink to tantalise your tastebuds and once confirmed, featured food vendors will be shown on our website, social media pages and for those that have subscribed, they will receive the details in our ‘Nightjar News’.

There will be food vendors offering savoury/sweet options, drink, ice cream and snack located in various locations around the venues (including in the market area). Due to liquor licencing laws, some food vendors must be located in licenced areas and this will mean they have restricted access.

Are there vegetarian or vegan food options available at Nightjar?

There will be a large variety of food options available at all Nightjar. Once confirmed, we will try and list what options vendors are offering and from their menus on our social media and for those that have subscribed, they will receive the details with the Food Vendors announced in our ‘Nightjar News’.

How can I lodge a complaint?

Complaints can be forwarded to Nightjar management via the enquiry form on our website.
